Canadian university grades to US GPA
Canada has no national grading scale: provinces and universities use percentages, 4.0, 4.3, 9 and 12-point systems. Pick yours; the percentage setting uses the University of Toronto’s official table.

How the estimate works
No cited table maps this scale point by point to a 4.0 GPA, so the converter shows the band and the UK-class equivalent instead of inventing a number.

Ten provinces, many scales
Education in Canada is a provincial responsibility, and universities set their own grading rules. Ontario universities commonly report percentages with letters, some institutions use a 4.3 scale that rewards an A+, and others use 9- or 12-point scales. A percentage from one school can therefore mean a different letter at the next one. The table above is the undergraduate scale in the University of Toronto’s Assessment and Grading Practices Policy, so treat it as Toronto’s reading, not Canada’s.
Reading the Toronto table
Toronto maps 85–89 and 90–100 both to 4.0, 80–84 to A− (3.7) and 77–79 to B+ (3.3). The pass line for a course is 50. Notice how much higher these percentages are than UK or French marks for the same letter: a Canadian 75 is a B, while a UK 75 is a First.
Canada to the UK
Loughborough University publishes Canadian equivalents for UK classes on four scales: a First needs 3.7 on 4.0 or 85%, 8 on a 9-point scale or 10 on a 12-point scale; a 2:1 needs 3.3 or 75%, 6 out of 9 or 8 out of 12; a 2:2 needs 2.7 or 68%, 5 out of 9 or 6 out of 12. The 9 and 12-point settings in the converter report this class only, because no source we cite maps those scales to a 4.0 GPA.
Worked example
Jordan’s average is 78%. On Toronto’s table that is B+, 3.3 grade points. For Loughborough, 78% clears the 75% bar for a 2:1 but not the 85% for a First. A friend at a 9-point school with 6.5 also lands at a 2:1 under Loughborough’s table.
