Drop the lowest quiz grade

GradeKite drops the lowest percentages inside one category, keeps at least one score, then weights that average. It does not drop the lowest raw points.

Quizzes worth 20%, drop 1

Scores: 70, 90, 100, and 40. Drop 40. Average of 70, 90, and 100 is 86.67%.

Exams worth 80% average 78%, and nothing is dropped. Overall:

(86.67 × 20 + 78 × 80) / 100 = 79.73%

If you ask to drop more quizzes than you have, one score is still kept — the highest. A blank category is not a zero; it is unfinished. That is how a blank final stays out of the average.

Steps in the calculator

  1. Open the weighted grade calculator.
  2. Switch to “Categories + drop lowest”.
  3. Enter each category: Quizzes (weight 20, drop lowest 1): 70, 90, 100, 40%; Exams (weight 80): 78%.
  4. Read the overall grade at the top.
