Grades with unequal weights
In simple mode, weights are relative. A paper worth “3” against a quiz worth “1” is three times the quiz. They do not need to sum to 100.
| Item | Score | Weight | Score × weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quiz | 90 | 1 | 90 |
| Paper | 80 | 3 | 240 |
| Exam | 92 | 4 | 368 |
698 / 8 = 87.25%
Open these three weights. Treating them as if each were out of 100 and then averaging 90, 80, and 92 (87.33) ignores that the exam counts four times the quiz.
Syllabus percents that do add to 100 belong in category mode.
