What grade do I need to get an A?
On GradeKite’s display scale, an A starts at 93% and an A− at 90%. Many syllabi call 90 an A. Use the cutoff written on yours.
A− from an 88, final worth 30%
needed = (90 − 88 × 0.70) / 0.30 = 94.67%
You need 94.67% on that final. Open this A− example.
A from a 91, final worth 40%
needed = (93 − 91 × 0.60) / 0.40 = 96%
A heavier final gives you more room. From an 85 with only a 20% final, a 90 overall asks for more than 100%. The calculator says so instead of hiding it. Related: final worth 20%.
