What do I need to pass?
“Pass” is whatever the syllabus says. Two common lines are 60% and 70%. They are not the same number on the final.
55% now, final worth 30%
- Goal 60:
(60 − 55 × 0.70) / 0.30 = 71.67% - Goal 70:
(70 − 38.5) / 0.30 = 105%— above 100, so a 70 overall is already out of reach
Open the 60% pass example. If your school passes at 70, change the goal on that page and read the “above 100%” line before you plan on it.
Letters: 60 is the bottom of a D− on GradeKite’s display scale. See percent to GPA only after you know the letter your school actually records.
Steps in the calculator
